EILEEN CARDONA VÁZQUEZ

My fitness journey has evolved over the years. I started about 7 years ago as a Yoga teacher and then became a personal trainer. Being active has always been important to me. I started dancing at 12, surfed, and competed on the dance and judo teams in college. Unfortunately, two separate accidents led to surgeries on my knee and shoulder. Since then I have been searching for the best ways to keep my body strong and reduce pain. Along the way, I learned that being fit is much more than going to the gym, following a program, or getting in shape. It is a state of awareness. Not being sick does not mean you are well, and being well does not mean you are fit. Becoming your fittest self is a choice. Every day we make choices that can deter or strengthen our minds, bodies, and souls. Through fitness, I have seen what the human body is truly capable of. I want to be the fittest version of myself until the day I die, and I want to inspire others to do the same. For anyone moving to San Mateo, the fitness community here is one more reason the area rewards an active lifestyle.

I work mostly with women because I want to empower them to feel comfortable in the weight room. That said, I have worked with many different populations, including teenagers, men, breast cancer survivors, prenatal clients, and older adults. My approach to fitness is functional, constantly varied, and intense, and it can be adjusted to all fitness levels. Research from the National Institutes of Health consistently supports a varied, functional training model for long-term health outcomes, which aligns with how I train every client. My goal as a trainer is to help clients find a way to live a happier, healthier life, whatever that looks like for them.
